Dudhsagar Waterfall is nestled in the Western Ghats inside the Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park of Goa. The four-tiered Dudhsager waterfall trek, located on the Mandovi River, is listed among India's tallest waterfalls with a whopping height of 310m (1017 ft) and an average width of 30 m (100 ft). Dudhsagar trekking will allow the trekkers to witness mesmerising greens of the surrounding waterfall. The Dudhsagar trek is believed to be the best trek near Goa as it allows you to undertake challenges to reach the Waterfall after a tiring trek of 4-5 hours.
When the water flows from the top of Dudhsagar, it seems as if someone is pouring milk down the mountain and many believe in the local legend, that a princess poured milk from a golden jug into the water while bathing to create a curtain. The prince who used to watch her bathing got a milky virtual obstruction in the crystal clear water of this waterfall, since then it has been named ‘Dudhsagar” in honour of the princess.
