Sondai Fort is situated near Karjat Chowk Phata, Maharashtra. The altitude of the Sondai Fort is 1,200 ft above sea level and offers the most untouched natural beauty to the trekkers. The top of the Sondai fort offers the best view of Morbe Dam, Prabalgad, Irshalgad, Rajmachi, Songiri forts, Karnala fort, and the Matheran mountain range. To reach the pinnacle of the Sondai Fort where the idol of Sondai Devi stands, one needs to cross two water cisterns, rock-cut steps, and an iron railing. The strategic location of the Sondai Fort helped it to serve as a major trade route and as a watchtower.
The difficulty level of this one-day trek in Maharashtra ranges from easy-moderate. The Sondai Fort is the lesser-known side of the Western Ghats; thus, it is not crowded. The reason being it is the best monsoon trek near Mumbai. The distance of Sondai Fort from Mumbai and Pune is 75 km and 100 km respectively.

At 10: 30 our vehicle will begin the journey towards the base village.
03:00 AM - Trek Begins
At dawn, the trek will begin from Sondewadi to reach the top of the fort.
07:00 AM - Breakfast & Explore
After a tiring trek to the top of the fort, trekkers can rest and have breakfast.
12:00 PM - Explore Sondai Fort
Explore the Sondai Devi temple, situated at the pinnacle of the Sondai Fort and witness the surreal view of the valley.
12:00 PM - Lunch
The base village awaits to treat us with a delicious local delicacy and warm hospitality.
10:00 PM - End of a Beautiful Journey
Trekkers would say their goodbyes to their fellow mates as the trek ends here.

You need to carry trekking shoes, a raincoat, a torch (headtorch preferable), trek pants, dry-fit t-shirts, glares, mobile cover, water bottle socks, sanitiser, mask & personal First Aid.
The trek difficulty ranges from easy to moderate. Check your BMI beforehand to analyse the difficulty rating for yourself (a higher BMI equals higher difficulty)
The trek alone takes approximately 3-4 hours (including the return to the base village).
